Entree magazine - Dame aan de kade

High-end comfort food in a 1970s interior: that is Dame aan de Kade in De Pijp in Amsterdam. The new neighbourhood bar by Quirijn Roozen, Niek Roozen and Dominic Aarts combines a Mediterranean-European kitchen with a relaxed, accessible atmosphere. "We are just as much a café as a restaurant."
The interior was designed and largely built by the three owners themselves. Everything is finished in terracotta – ceiling, walls, doors and frames – creating a warm look. The style subtly references the 1970s, with elements such as retro lamps, glass blocks and a disco ball.
The lighting design was done by Illum Kunstlicht. “We tried to make everything feel right, from the materials to the way the light falls,” says Roozen. “We even came up with glass blocks with built-in lighting. Everything is well thought out.”
